For our outreach activities we promote STEM in schools in underserved areas. The team uniquely promotes interest in STEM activities through rocketry which students find exciting and educational. The club undertakes educational sessions and rocket build/launch events to promote interest in STEM activities. Members of the club also participate in The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC) the world’s largest rocketry competition with over 5000 students participating nationwide and encourages participation in this event as an additional draw for involvement in STEM activities.
This event took place as part of the Barrio Logan Science and Art Expo at Mercado del Barrio. We showed, taught about, and talked about our rockets. We had interactive science lessons aimed towards children, but our stand also caught the interest of many adults. We also presented an educational presentation to those who were interested.
